Int'l Martial Arts Games to Be Held in Australia (KCNA)

Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA)

The 5th International Martial Arts Games (IMAG) is to be held in Australia in May. In this regard, KCNA had an interview with Ri Jong Gun, secretary general of the IMAG Committee. Ri said: The IMAG is a gathering of men of martial arts from across the world displaying the tradition and might of their national martial arts. The IMAG Committee, headquartered in Pyongyang, is an agency dealing with all kinds of martial arts around the world. It was founded in Argentina in Juche 88 (1999), and has sponsored four rounds of IMAG until now.

The first and second games took place in Pyongyang, third in Bangkok and fourth in Tallinn. Preparations for the 5th games are going on throughout the world. The preparatory committee for the games was organized in Australia, with local martial arts groups involved in it. It is the first time to have the games in Oceania. Applicants for membership of the committee are on a steady increase. The committee set it as its purpose to promote the unity and cooperation among men of martial arts, contributing to defending the world's peace. A ceremony for lighting the torch for the 5th IMAG took place in Pyongyang on April 3. -0-
